Through our work teaching job seekers experiencing homelessness, and coaching those in financial hardship, we have come to value the following: 

 

*Know-how that can be used now over know-how that can be used later,  

*Listening, observing and adapting over following a plan,

*Empathy and curiosity over assumptions and judgement, and

*Engagement over stand and deliver. 

 

That is, while the non-bolded items are necessary, we value the bolded items more.

We hold the dignity of each person that attends one of our workshops as paramount.  We do what we can to listen to and respond to each person's needs and wants, so everyone walks away with something that moves their needle, not ours.
